Before sharing my experience of wearing running shoes in badminton I suggest you not wear running shoes for badminton.

Running shoes is slippery in badminton court and can cause injuries and it’s very hard to make a grip on the wooden badminton court.

My Experience of Wearing running shoes in badminton

So I have 3 pairs of beautiful running shoes and carry them most of the time while I go out for some sports.

Because running shoes are an all-rounder and you can use them on most sports.

One day I was in hurry and took up my badminton kit while wearing the running shoes and ran for the badminton court.

I forgot to change my running shoes and go to play badminton. I was wearing the basic Reebok running shoes on that day.

These were quite good and comfortable but they are not made for badminton.

These were the basic running shoes with good padding with lateral support so what’s bad in these shoes and what’s goes wrong.

So unconsciously I know that I am wearing running shoes and I was taking every step very safe and in care.

So in a wooden court, my foot is slipping and It makes moving around instantly very hard and increasing the chances of injuries.

And in a badminton mattress, it is very hard to take a step because running shoes were stick on the court.

So the difference is noticeable and making badminton very hard and I expected that so it’s not shocking for me at all.

So the question is can you wear sneakers in badminton so it depends on the type of sneakers you are wearing and the type of sole of the shoe.

Because sole matters a lot and for the performance of weather the sneaker will work or not.

I have seen that many sneakers have the ability to replace badminton shoes because they are made from the same kind of sole and material.

But I suggest you use badminton shoes only because a good pair of badminton shoes is necessary.

Running shoes have thick soles that support the knees and protect them from jerks that happen when the foot hits the bottom.

The soles on trainers aren’t flexible and usually have grips (horizontal straight lines usually) that are designed for simple movement in one direction – forward.

For badminton, you would like shoes that allow you to form easy and swift movements altogether directions around you.

A triangular (or honeycomb ish grip) will assist you to achieve that. Also, it might help if the only is flexible, bendable, and has about medium to thin thickness.

I would advise against wearing running shoes on the badminton court.

I would recommend shoes by the brand Asics. They have well-built, well-designed shoes that aren’t are expensive (and better too, in my opinion) than a number of the more popular brands like Nike, Addidas, etc.

Hope that helps you to decide not to wear running shoes for badminton

What are Badminton Shoes

Most of the badminton court surface is made of synthetic material like PVC. These surfaces can mark easily.

That’s why people suggest you buy nonmarking badminton shoes. So do check on non-marking badminton shoes while getting a new one.

You had also seen that most of the badminton academies suggest only wear non-marking shoes. And these are strict guidelines and you have to follow them.

And if you go without wearing non-marking badminton shoes then they won’t allow you to play.

If you are unsure whether your badminton shoes are non-marking shoes or not, look at the sole.

The sole of non-marking shoes is light in color most of the time but you can also find the non-marking shoes in the dark color sole.
